Tyler Primeaux: The Fearless Co-Owner of The Esthi Shares the Secrets to Her Success

Opening up an enhancement studio at the height of the pandemic is a bold move for any young entrepreneur, but that’s exactly what Tyler Primeaux, co-owner of The Esthi, has managed to do. Not only did the business survive under less than ideal circumstances, it thrived in such a way that the company had to open a larger location after only six months of operation.

The Esthi offers everything from teeth whitening to waxing, lashes, facials and more. Primeaux’s goal has always been to make it more than just service-based, opting to call it a “pop art” beauty bar that is simply fun to spend time in.

At The Esthi, we've created a fun environment from the second you walk in to the moment you leave,” says Primeaux. “We're not a typical studio/spa. We play fun pop music, everything is PINK, and we've leaned towards a more ‘upbeat’ environment compared to your average studio/spa.”

Since she was a kid, Primeaux has always been obsessed with makeup, only realizing that she could make a career out of aesthetics when she became a receptionist at a studio in her early 20s. She realized that her bubbly personality and marketing savvy could be an asset in the industry, so she decided to become a licensed aesthetician. Her career path from that point on has been a success, largely because of her amiable nature and work ethic.

“In my day to day personal life, I’m really outgoing, personable and talkative!” says Primeaux. “I carry that over into my work life, getting to know my clients inside and out and vice versa. I've learned that building relationships and bonds is JUST as important as being a really good aesthetician.”

That approach has served her well, as she sees up to 48 clients a week for aesthetic services, with 90% of those clients receiving lashes. She is hoping to expand the company to include even more aesthetic/medical spa services, stepping away from the hands-on service to train more aestheticians to continue to build up The Esthi’s clientele.

Primeaux credits her fearlessness about putting herself out there as the secret to her success. She has this advice for entrepreneurs hoping to take a similar path:

“Stop being scared of the unknown! Pick up your niche while you're in school, MASTER it, then SCREAM it from the rooftops. I learned early on that social media is a great tool to build a successful clientele. Don't be scared to look silly for posting. I was made fun of for being so interactive on social media and being too personable, but it has allowed me to grow as an Esthetician and business owner. What takes most years, took me 6 months... believe in yourself. There's a line of people out there waiting to support you.”
